Does Smitty replace Google Calendar?
No. Smitty has its own family calendar view, and you can keep Google Calendar too. Sync is there so existing Google events show up alongside what Smitty extracts from email and school portals.
Integrations
Keep the calendars you already use, and let Smitty include those events next to what it pulls from school email.
Video walkthrough
Watch how to connect a Google Calendar so Smitty can include those events alongside school emails and family details.
Google Calendar is great for events you already typed in. It does not read the school newsletter, the PDF permission slip, or the ParentSquare post that never made it onto a calendar. Smitty does that reading, then can sync your Google calendars so both worlds show up together.
Sign in at smittyhq.com and open your family calendar settings.
Choose Connect Google Calendar and sign in with the Google account that has your family calendars.
Select the calendars Smitty should read and assign them to the right household members if prompted.
Smitty imports those events and keeps them updated. It reads calendars you connect. If you turn on automatic calendar updates, it can also add missing events to a calendar you choose — only events Smitty created.

Smitty never edits or deletes events it did not create. If you turn on automatic calendar updates, it can add missing events to a Google calendar you choose, then update or remove only those Smitty-created events. Turning the feature off leaves existing events on Google.
Any calendars available on the Google account you connect, including shared family calendars you have access to. Choose only the ones you want Smitty to include.
Yes. Besides Google OAuth, Smitty accepts iCal / .ics subscription URLs from Apple Calendar, Outlook, ParentSquare, Canvas, and other portals that provide a feed link.
A shared calendar still needs someone to read every school message and type dates in. Smitty does the reading and remembering; Google sync fills in events you already track elsewhere.
Create your household, open calendar settings, and follow the steps above.
