Assistants

Your assistant reads Smitty. It does not become a second calendar.

Smitty holds the household's plans: what is coming up, who is responsible, and what is still unresolved. A general-purpose assistant is useful here only when it acts for one adult and treats Smitty as the record.

Connect Muse

Families can connect when public access is enabled. Until then, only households on the pilot allowlist can connect.

In Muse’s custom MCP connection setup, use server URL https://smitty-mcp-spike-production.up.railway.app/mcp and OAuth client ID smitty-muse.

Request scopes events:read responsibility:read pickup:request message:send event:create. Read permissions are selected initially; choose any actions you want to allow, then approve the connection.

Manage or disconnect access in Connected assistants. Reconnect to add permissions. Each adult connects independently.

Smitty’s privacy policy covers Smitty’s processing. Review Muse’s own data policies before sharing household information with Muse.

One adult, one household

A connection belongs to one adult in one household. Smitty checks that identity on every request. The assistant cannot choose a different adult, cannot act as their partner, and cannot see another household. A private event that belongs to the other adult stays private.

Smitty is the record

Families connect their sources to Smitty: forwarded school email, Google Calendar, ParentSquare, and Canvas. The assistant reads Smitty. It does not keep a second calendar, and connecting an assistant is not a substitute for connecting those sources.

Actions you approve

For a connected adult, the assistant can look up shared events, read who is responsible for a pickup, request an initial pickup, send a coordination text you approve, and create a shared event you approve. It does not replace a pickup that is already recorded, and it does not invent coverage from an empty result.

A reply is what changes the plan

The other adult answers Smitty directly. Smitty records whether the request is still waiting or confirmed, including the time they accepted. The assistant reads that result. It does not mark pickup confirmed on its own, and it does not nag for an answer.

Both adults, each with their own permission

Coordinating with a partner works when that partner is in Smitty as their own person and has agreed to receive messages. They can answer by text. They do not need an assistant of their own connected.

Questions

How does a family connect Muse?

Start in Muse and add Smitty using the setup details below. Sign in to Smitty and choose permissions for your adult account and household. Free, trial, and Plus households can connect when public access is enabled; existing plan and messaging limits apply.

Does the assistant get access to the whole household?

No. The connection is for one adult. Smitty enforces that boundary. Shared plans that adult is allowed to see can be read. Another adult's private events cannot.

Who confirms a pickup?

The adult who was asked. They reply to Smitty, and Smitty records the answer. The assistant can request the pickup and then read the status. It cannot confirm coverage by itself.
