The Smitty Guide

Trust and sources

You should be able to see why something is here

Family logistics are too consequential for a mysterious card with a date on it. Smitty preserves a path back to the information behind the result.

Every item begins somewhere

An item may come from a forwarded email, attachment, message, connected calendar, direct household action, or later correction. The source explains why the item exists. It does not guarantee the source was correct.

What source details should answer

The useful question is not “Which model produced this?” It is “What did our household receive, and what did Smitty do with it?”

  • What kind of source it was
  • Who sent or added it
  • When it arrived
  • Whether it was later corrected
  • Whether an important detail remains unknown

Stated, inferred, and confirmed are different

A source can state an arrival time and grade. Smitty may match it to a child using confirmed family context. A later parent confirmation is stronger than the inference alone. The interface should make consequential uncertainty understandable without covering everything in confidence scores.

When information changes

Smitty should show the current household version and enough history to explain why it changed. It should not flatten several different claims into false certainty.

The original source is still the final word

Smitty helps your household read, organize, and remember. It is not the official record for a school, doctor, airline, team, or emergency service. Trust means knowing when a check matters and having a path back when it does.

Start with one thing you are already carrying.

Forward one real family message. Smitty will show you what it can take off your mind.
