Messaging compliance

SMS opt-in flow

Smitty sends SMS only after a user explicitly opts in during web app onboarding or in authenticated notification settings. Messages are transactional and service-related — not marketing.

1. Onboarding opt-in

During account setup, the user enters a mobile number, selects SMS as the reminder channel, reads the consent disclosure, checks the agreement box, and continues.

2. Post-login notification settings

After sign-in, users can manage SMS preferences in Settings, including phone number, channel selection, consent, and notification opt-ins.

3. Double opt-in (YES confirmation)

After the user checks the consent box and saves notification preferences, Smitty sends a confirmation text. SMS is not active until the user replies YES or ACCEPT.

Pending confirmation SMS:

Smitty: Reply YES to confirm SMS reminders for your family digest and schedule updates. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel. Reply HELP for help.

Opt-in keywords: YES, ACCEPT

After YES, confirmation SMS:

Smitty: You're confirmed for SMS reminders. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for help.

Consent disclosure (shown in app)
